Flu Season Intensifies in 2025

Season flu cases are on the rise nationwide.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates there have been at least 24 million illnesses, more than 300,000 hospitalizations, and 13,000 deaths from flu so far this season.
In Connecticut, flu cases hit the highest weekly count of the season during the last week of January with 4,881 cases.
The Connecticut Department of Health reported 1,935 flu hospitalizations and 34 deaths as of early February.
Most people recover in a few days to less than a few weeks, according to the CDC. Others develop pneumonia as a result.
Workplace Precautions
Employers can take steps to encourage workers and visitors to use proper hand hygiene and cough etiquette to protect workplaces from respiratory illness.
Employers are also encouraged to provide soap and water, hand sanitizers, disposable towels, and other cleaning and sanitation materials.
Health officials say people with the flu are most contagious during the first three days of illness.
