Legislative Advocacy Training for HR Pros
Communicate effectively with your state lawmakers
CBIA is partnering with the Human Resources Association of Central Connecticut (HRACC) and the law firm of Jackson Lewis on Oct. 1, 2014, to present an updated, hands-on, information-packed skill-building session on how to play an active role in the state legislative process.
Every year, the Connecticut General Assembly considers numerous legislative proposals that can affect the HR profession, the companies we work for, and the communities in which our businesses are located and our employees reside.
As HR professionals, we have an obligation assist legislators in understanding the impact their decisions have on the businesses that provide jobs for the voters who put them in office. The most effective strategy is to build relationships and open lines of communication and understanding before, during, and after the the legislative session.
At this conference we’ll review the anticipated legislative agenda for 2015 and guide you through the process so you will be comfortable and confident contacting and meeting with legislators.
As we have done in past conferences, we will also have our featured “Live Theater Under the Dome” exercise, a fun, hands-on simulated meeting with a legislator to discuss a hypothetical, but all-too-possible proposed law that might significantly affect how you do your jobs.
