Special event aimed at putting ex-offenders to work

The Chrysalis Center Inc., in collaboration with the Greater Hartford Reentry Council, is holding its 3rd annual Reentry Employment and Resource Fair, Thursday, Sept. 19, from 9 am to 1 pm at the Marriott Hartford Downtown, located at 200 Columbus Blvd. in Hartford.

The event, exclusively for individuals released from incarceration, will be attended by numerous job candidates skilled in such fields as excavation and skid steer operation, forklift, culinary arts, industrial, mechanical, construction, transportation, customer service, sales/retail, and much more.

“It is our hope that as the economy recovers from its recent downturn, this event will provide an efficient opportunity for employers to survey a large number of very skilled applicants for a competitive job market,” says Tanna Howard, services director at the Chrysalis Center.

Employers attending the job fair will have an opportunity to accept applications, interview, and potentially hire qualified applicants on the spot.

The event includes free parking, a catered breakfast, and information on tax incentives for hiring ex-offenders.
