President Obama has signed the Veterans’ Skills to Jobs Act (H.R. 4155), a new law intended to address the high rate of unemployed veterans.

The law directs federal agencies to consider whether relevant military training satisfies the requirements for a federal license to engage in a particular activity, when the applicant for the license is a veteran.

The bill’s sponsor, U.S. Rep. Jeff Denham (R-Calif.), praised the bipartisan effort to pass the bill, which had support from numerous veterans’ organizations.
