OFCCP to Pull Comp Standards

HR & Safety

The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) is proposing to rescind the interpretive standards for systemic compensation discrimination and voluntary guidelines for self-evaluation of pay practices for federal contractors and subcontractors covered under Executive Order 11246. The standards and the guidelines were both issued in 2006.

OFCCP says the interpretive standards are too narrow and have limited the agency’s ability to effectively investigate, analyze, and identify compensation discrimination. The volunteer guidelines have been largely unused by federal contractors and have not been an effective enforcement strategy.

Comments on the proposal, identified by number 1250-ZNE, may be submitted to OFCCP online at www.regulations.gov by fax at 202-693-1304, or by mail to Director, Division of Policy, Planning and Program Development, OFCCP, Room N3422, 200 Constitution Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20210. Comments must be received on or before March 4, 2011.
