Top Ten Most-Cited Standards for 2010

OSHA has revealed its top ten most frequently violated standards for fiscal year 2010.

The construction scaffolding standard topped the list, as it has the last few years, with 8,371 violations. Fall protection came in second with 7,559 violations, followed by hazard communication with 6,633 violations.

Rounding out the list:

  • Respiratory protection3,932 violations
  • Ladder: 3,820
  • Lockout/tagout3,531
  • Electrical wiring methods – 3,381
  • Powered industrial truck: 3,224
  • Electricalgeneral2,770
  • Machine guarding2,556

According to OSHA, there were roughly 94,000 violations last year, and the top 10 standards represented 48% to 49% of that total.
