Bill Restricting Employer-Employee Communications Moving Quickly, Quietly

Issues & Policies

A proposal strictly limiting what employers can say to their employees in the workplace will be voted on next week in the Appropriations Committee.

Subjects such as wages, health care, employee benefits and working conditions all would be forbidden topics in employee meetings under SB-365, a top priority of labor unions this year. All of these topics are disguised under the deceptive heading of “political matters' in the bill.

However, these are just the kinds of bread-and-butter issues that employees need to hear about from their employers, especially during difficult economic times.

During what is arguably one of the worst economic times our country has ever seen, employers must be able to freely communicate with their employees about issues affecting their jobs. This proposal would directly block that communication.

Please contact the committee members and urge them to vote NO on SB-365. For more information, contact CBIA’s Kia Murrell at 860-244-1931 or kia.murrell@cbia.com.
