Issues & Policies

The Governor’s Business Tax Policy Task Force has set its first hearing for Monday, April 9, from 3-6 pm in Hartford. At that hearing, several organizations—including CBIA—will discuss how Connecticut’s tax policy can positively impact economic development in the state.

After this first hearing, the task force will hold three regional meetings—in Fairfield and Middlesex Counties, and in New Haven—to further the discussions.

Established by Executive Order 17, the task force is charged with:

  • Identifying specific areas of business taxation and other issues (including tax credits and other tax benefits) that should be the focus of future legislation and state economic policy.
  • Evaluating the cost, benefit, efficiency, effectiveness and measurable performance of the current business tax credit structure and its impact on jobs, economic development, and business retention and growth

The group will report its findings and recommendations to the governor by Oct. 1, 2012.
