How to Prepare Your Business for the Unexpected Interruption

Has your business been affected by severe weather or a natural disaster? Were you prepared? How did you recover?

The Central Connecticut Regional Planning Agency and the Central Connecticut State University’s Institute of Technology & Business Development are hosting a workshop to help businesses prepare for and recover from disasters.

When: April 25th, 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Where: CCSU Institute of Technology & Business Development, 185 Main Street, New Britain, CT

Speakers and Topics:

  • Small Business: Big Opportunity: Business Continuity Planning and Risk Management Strategies Joan Woodward, President of the Travelers Institute will be joined by Marty Henry, Senior Vice President, Risk Control, The Travelers Companies, Inc. and Robert Bouvier, President of Bouvier Insurance, to discuss the importance of business continuity planning.
  • Short Term vs. Long Term Recovery George Bradner, Director, Property & Casualty Division, Connecticut Insurance Department, Corey Nygaard, Recovery Planning Coordinator for FEMA Region 1, Peter Lent, Assistant Executive Director for the Office of Business Development, and Bernard Sweeney, District Director of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Connecticut District Office, will provide information about the recovery process and resources to help your business in the aftermath of a disaster.
  • Emergency Preparedness Ed Goldberg, Manager of Connecticut Light & Power/Northeast Utilities’ Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery and Threat Assessment Programs and Mark Moriarty, New Britain Director of Public Works, will be joined by a representative from the Red Cross to discuss procedures to prepare for an emergency.
