Avelo Launches Dominican Republic Route

“Hello Punta Cana!” 

Avelo Airlines has added the Dominican Republic to its list of international destinations. 

The airline launched its first route between Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and Hartford’s Bradley International Airport Feb. 21. 

The direct flights will fly out of Hartford each Monday and Friday. 

There will also be twice-weekly flights to the D.R. offered from Raleigh-Durham. 

Third International Route

Avelo celebrated the inaugural arrival in Punta Cana with a water cannon salute, music and dancing. 

The new destination marks the airline’s third international route, along with Mexico and Jamaica.

Travel Options

Avelo is the only airline offering nonstop service from Bradley to Punta Cana. 

Tickets start at $129 one way. 

“This route expansion marks a significant milestone for both Avelo Airlines and Punta Cana Airport, underscoring their shared commitment to providing passengers with convenient travel options,” said Punta Cana International Airport director Giovanni Rainieri. 

Since it first launched at Tweed New Haven Airport in 2021, Avelo has flown more than 6.3 million customers, including three million from Connecticut.

The airline began service out of Bradley in November. 

Between Hartford and New Haven, Avelo now has 36 routes out of the state.
