CBIA President & CEO Joe Brennan released the following statement today:
“Now that the legislature has spoken on the union concession package, the General Assembly must turn its attention to passing a bipartisan budget that rejects tax hikes that will further damage our economy.
“In addition, legislators must look to the recommendations in The Pew Charitable Trusts report and in the Republican budgets to find additional structural reforms and other ways to further rein in state employee costs.
“Failure to adopt a new spending plan only adds to the uncertainty that has plagued our economy in recent years. Lawmakers have to take the difficult but necessary steps to pass a new, two-year budget without resorting to the failed tax increases of the past.”
