Fuss & O’Neill, a civil and engineering firm celebrating its 100-year anniversary, is moving its main headquarters from Manchester to Hartford.

The company announced plans to relocate to a 23,000 square foot space in Hartford’s Gold Building this fall.

“Moving our corporate headquarters to Hartford was a strategic decision that exemplifies our commitment to investing in the communities we serve,” said Fuss & O’Neill CEO Kevin Grigg.

Fuss & O’Neill was founded in 1924 and has grown to 11 locations in seven Northeast states, including two in Connecticut.

Grigg, who is also CBIA’s board chair, said the firm purposely opened new offices in urban areas in an effort to “inspire innovation and attract top talent.”

Workforce Expansion

The company employs about 400 people, including 200 in Connecticut.

Grigg told the CBIA BizCast that the firm has worked with “virtually every municipality throughout the state over the years.”

Their projects include New Britain’s Beehive Bridge, Hartford’s flood control system, and the Science Park development in New Haven.

“Our move to Hartford aligns with our mission, our work, and our client base.”

“Much of the work we’ve done has been really helping to improve the quality of citizens’ lives in these various communities and obviously, throughout the state,” he said.

With the relocation, they plan to create 74 new jobs over the next several years.

“Our move to Hartford aligns with our mission, our work, and our client base,” Grigg said. “This is an exciting new chapter for our firm as we celebrate our centennial anniversary.”

State Support

Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development commissioner Dan O’Keefe called Fuss & O’Neill’s expansion a “testament to the sustained strength of Connecticut’s economy.”

DECD is supporting the move with more than $1.1 million in tax credits.

Those credits are contingent on the firm creating and retaining 74 full-time jobs.

“I am glad that the company has chosen our state as the location to add to its employee base.”

Gov. Ned Lamont

“This highly respected engineering firm employs hundreds of people in good paying jobs in several states,” said Gov. Ned Lamont.

“I am glad that the company has chosen our state as the location to add to its employee base.

“I look forward to their continued growth here,” he said.
