Thomaston Savings Bank Launches $1M Community Initiative

Thomaston Savings Bank is launching a new $1 million community investment initiative.
The effort will support eight nonprofit organizations across the bank’s service area over the next five years.
Bank leaders said the initiative will deepen support for nonprofit organizations, expand employee volunteerism, strengthen community partnerships, and increase the impact of the bank’s philanthropic efforts.
“For more than 150 years, Thomaston Savings Bank has supported the neighborhoods, organizations, and individuals that help our communities thrive,” said Thomaston Savings Bank president and CEO Stephen Lewis.
“These investments reflect the bank’s mission of helping communities grow stronger and more vibrant for generations to come,” added Thomaston Savings Bank vice president and community outreach officer Cheryl Lindstrom.
Nonprofit Support
As part of the initiative, the bank will provide long-term support to the following organizations:
- United Way of Greater Waterbury
- United Way of Northwest Connecticut
- Boys & Girls Club of Greater Waterbury
- Boys & Girls Club of Bristol
- Boys & Girls Club of New Britain
- Prudence Crandall Center
- Safe Haven of Greater Waterbury
- Susan B. Anthony Project, Inc.
Recipients will receive pledges ranging from $25,000 to $250,000.
“This investment is not simply a financial contribution; it is a powerful expression of confidence in our mission, our impact, and the role we play in strengthening the communities we serve,” said United Way of Greater Waterbury president Kristen Jacoby.
“Knowing that we have sustained support over the next five years allows us to plan strategically, respond more effectively to emerging needs, strengthen our programs, and invest in the long-term impact of our work.”
The bank expects to identify additional opportunities to engage with local organizations as the initiative evolves.
Since its inception in 1997, the Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation has contributed nearly $12 million to area nonprofit organizations.
