Thomaston Savings Bank is awarding nearly $200,000 in grants to nonprofit and government agencies in Litchfield County.

The awards are part of the latest round of funding from the Thomas Savings Bank Foundation’s latest grant cycle.

The program runs in phases, with each focused on a county where the bank has a physical presence.

Through Phase II of the grants, 93 organizations in Bethlehem, Harwinton, Plymouth, Terryville, Thomaston, Torrington, Watertown, and Oakville are receiving grants.

“These Phase II grant awards represent more than financial support; they are an investment in organizations that are improving quality of life, expanding opportunities, and meeting critical needs every day,” said Thomaston Savings Bank vice president and community outreach officer Cheryl Lindstrom.

Community Needs

Grants go to organizations that address pressing needs in their communities.

One of those organizations is the Plymouth Community Food Pantry.

“These grant awards are an investment in organizations that are improving quality of life, expanding opportunities, and meeting critical needs.

“The Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation and all the people who put time and effort into its success have become part of the fabric of our success,” said Plymouth Community Food Pantry director Larry Chiucarello.

Since its inception in 1997, the Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation has awarded more than $11.5 million in grant funding.

Applications for Phase III of the grant program are open until Oct. 31 for nonprofits and government agencies in Middlebury, Waterbury, and Wolcott.
