The Connecticut Captive Insurance Association is hosting the state's first-ever cap-a-thon in Hartford October 16-17.
This two-day event will focus on innovations for captive insurance entities as platforms for risk management and risk aggregation to impact the management of current and emerging risks faced by captive owners.
It features panel discussions and presentations from risk and industry leaders.
Representatives from captives, insurance, aerospace, healthcare, governments, defense, and municipalities will be collaboratively learning and participating.
The focus of this event is cybersecurity.
Industry-focused teams will develop innovation solutions using hackathon methodologies to address cyberrisk issues.
What Is a Cap-a-Thon?
CCIA's twist or hack on a hackathon, which is an intentional design-sprint event in which contributors and other subject matter experts collaborate intensively on a project or innovation to deliver a solution.
At this specific event, industry cyber experts in coverage, exposure, risk quantification, bench marking, and captives will be participating.
The structure is loosely based on hackathon concepts and will provide a condensed time for collaborative work.
The output of the cap-a-thon is a solution that successfully addresses or manages a specific risk issue, market need, and potentially a disruptive approach.
