The U.S. Small Business Administration is launching a nationwide competition to highlight entrepreneurs as part of the country’s 250th anniversary celebration.

The Patriot Pitch Competition is designed to promote innovation, economic opportunity, and small business growth.

Eligible small businesses will compete for a share of a $1 million cash prize pool funded by Clover.

The contest targets companies that demonstrate innovation and have experience leveraging SBA-backed financing tools.

“We look forward to demonstrating how small business is big business for our nation—and to highlighting the resilient job creators and local businesses who are delivering the services, products, and solutions that are defining America’s future,” SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler said.

The competition will unfold in four stages of judging, with entries evaluated on strengthening American competitiveness, demonstrating industry innovation, creating economic opportunity and quality jobs, and showing strong fundamentals and execution readiness.

SBA officials will announce the top 10 semifinalists the week of July 4.

Five finalists will go on to participate in a live pitch competition in Washington, D.C., in September.

Applications are due June 10.
