Eversource Names New Connecticut President

Eversource veteran Dan Scacco will succeed the retiring Steve Sullivan as president of the utility’s Connecticut electric operations.
The company announced the leadership transition May 14, with Scacco scheduled to assume the president’s role July 6.
Scacco currently serves as vice president of electric field operations for Connecticut, overseeing operation of the electric distribution system and reliability projects.
“Don has been an integral part of our team for decades, and as a Connecticut native, he has a true appreciation and love for the state as well as a profound understanding of our customers’ needs,” said Eversource chair, president, and CEO Joe Nolan.
“With his unwavering focus on safety, strong experience in storm response, and natural ability to empower our workforce, I have full confidence that he will do an outstanding job leading our Connecticut operations in the years ahead.
“I also want to extend my sincere appreciation to Steve for his leadership and immense contributions to our company, and I wish him the very best in his retirement.”
Veteran Leadership
Sullivan was named president in 2021, following over three decades serving in a variety of roles with the utility.
“After nearly four decades at Eversource, I’m heading into my next chapter with deep gratitude and pride,” Sullivan, who also serves on CBIA’s board of directors, said.
“I’ve had the privilege of working alongside remarkably talented people who care deeply about our mission and doing things the right way for our customers, and I leave confident knowing that our Connecticut team is in excellent hands with Don at the helm.”

CBIA president and CEO Chris DiPentima noted Sullivan’s commitment to Connecticut’s economic growth and development and support for community groups, including partnerships with Special Olympics and the United Way.
“Steve was always willing to educate and engage residents, businesses, and policymakers on solutions to Connecticut’s energy crisis,” DiPentima said.
“His willingness to listen and have candid conversations has greatly improved public-private relationships across the state.”
Storm Response
Scacco has held a variety of strategic leadership positions in both the distribution and transmission sides of Eversource’s electric business in his near 40-year career with the utility.
He played a critical role in major, unprecedented restorations following the disruptive 2011 storms, Superstorm Sandy and Tropical Storm Isaias.
“I’m eager to continue working with our highly skilled employees every day to achieve exceptional safety and reliability performance.”

“I’m incredibly honored to lead the operations team in the state I love and call home, and I’m eager to continue working with our highly skilled employees every day to achieve exceptional safety and reliability performance for our customers while maintaining our laser-focus on affordability,” Scacco said.
“As someone who’s lived and worked in Connecticut my entire life, I truly understand how our customers and communities depend on a safe, reliable electric grid for their everyday success, as well as the strong expectations they have for efficient restorations with every storm.
“I look forward to collaborating with our dedicated team and state partners to not only meet their expectations but ensure that our collective energy future in Connecticut is one that everyone can benefit from.”
