U.S. Department of Energy Seeks Comments on Existing Regulations
Pursuant to Executive Order 13771, “Reducing Regulation and Controlling Regulatory Costs” and Executive Order 13783, “Promoting Energy Independence and Economic Growth,” the U.S. Department of Energy is requesting information to assist in identifying existing regulations that should be modified or repealed.
The DOE requests comments on several issues, including:
- Regulations that do not make sense or are otherwise unnecessary, ineffective, ill-advised, or outdated
- Rules or reporting requirements that are unnecessarily complicated or have been overtaken by technological improvements or updates
- Rules that unnecessarily obstruct, delay, curtail, or impose significant costs on siting, permitting, production, utilization, transmission, or delivery of energy resources
- Existing sources of data that DOE should consider regarding costs, burdens, and benefits of existing regulations
