Sacred Heart University is teaming with seed accelerator Techstars to present a five-day virtual seminar for startups, innovators, entrepreneurs, and college students.

The free seminar—Techstars Startup Week Sacred Heart University—is set for Dec. 14-18 and will offer online learning and networking sessions while featuring “inspirational mentors, entrepreneurs, professors, and industry experts from across the country,” the university said in a release.

The event focuses on the business of entertainment and keeping our attention.

Entrepreneurs and innovators will share their insight, experience, and stories.

The week will focus on six innovation tracks: music, AR/VR, multimedia, sports, fan experiences, and gaming.

Session Topics

Attendees can participate in 50-plus sessions with topics that include:

  • Starting your video production company
  • Launching a career in sports media
  • Starting a startup in gaming
  • Launching a esports program
  • Branding and e-gaming

Techstars was founded in Colorado in 2006 and, as of last year, had accepted over 1,600 companies into its programs with a combined market capitalization of $18.2 billion.

The annual event dovetails with Sacred Heart’s development of an entrepreneurship ecosystem centered on its west campus, home of the school’s Jack Welch College of Business and Technology.

The university said its partnership with Techstars enables it to focus on reinforcing and scaling its promotion of entrepreneurship on campus.
