The Connecticut State Department of Education is organizing a summer discount program for educators and school staff.

The agency started the PK-12 School Staff Appreciation Digital Backpack program last year to thank school staff for their work educating future generations.

Program coordinators are looking for businesses who are interested in participating in the program by offering discounts.

They hope it can bring the community together by honoring school staff and also promote local businesses.

Businesses can choose what they want to offer and for how long this summer.

Anyone with a school-issued identification are included in the program, including paraeducators, cleaning crews, and bus drivers.

CSDE will put the names of the businesses and promotions on a web page and share the news through various social media platforms.

Interested businesses can sign up to participate online
