Each month, we profile a Connecticut small business, showcasing the ingenuity and innovation driving the state’s economy. For May we spoke with Hamilton Connections general manager Patrick Whalen. The company has seven offices across Connecticut and one in Massachusetts.

When was your company founded?

1986

How many employees work for your company?

38

Who are your customers?

Hamilton Connections is a temp to hire and direct hiring staffing company.

Our customers are businesses throughout Connecticut and Western Massachusetts that are seeking a variety of employees to fill manufacturing, light industrial, warehouse, and professional roles.

What makes your company unique?

We are big enough to service large, high volume accounts, but maintain the customer service focus and personal touch of a smaller, boutique staffing firm.

Additionally, with seven locations in Connecticut, Hamilton Connections is uniquely positioned to provide staffing at clients throughout the state.

What is a fun fact about your business or its history?

Our founder, the late Rob Hamilton, was once honored for his military service on the field during the seventh inning stretch of a Yankees game.

Why did you choose Connecticut?

Historically, Connecticut has been a leader in business and industry.

We are hopeful that this continues and that the state remains committed to being a place where businesses can succeed.

What is the greatest advantage to operating in Connecticut?

Connecticut has many companies that have operated in the state for decades.

Hamilton Connections’ success has been due in large part to the long-standing business partnerships it has built with these companies, and these relationships have survived the worst of times, from recessions to pandemics.

How do you try to give back to your community?

One of our favorite ways to give back is through our annual toy drive. For the last eight years we have provided countless toys to families in need throughout Connecticut and Western Massachusetts.

We also take great pride in knowing that our service connects people with long term career opportunities throughout the state.

Where do you see your company in five years? Ten years?

We will look to continue to expand our services to different parts of the state and beyond.

What is the main thing policymakers could implement to make your company more competitive?

Continue to focus on making Connecticut an attractive home for manufacturing and distribution companies!
