The U.S. Department of Labor launched an online portal April 29 aimed at expanding artificial intelligence skills and supporting registered apprenticeship programs.

The AI in Registered Apprenticeship Innovation Portal is a resource for organizations looking to build artificial intelligence literacy and integrate AI skills into existing or new apprenticeship programs.

The portal provides practical tools and guidance for employers and workforce partners, including skill-building resources, industry-specific training modules, and flexible pathways for incorporating AI into apprenticeship programs.

The initiative builds on DOL’s AI literacy framework released earlier this year.

“The department is committed to ensuring that every American has the opportunity to thrive in our nation’s workforce, especially in a world that is rapidly being reshaped by artificial intelligence,” acting secretary of labor Keith Sonderling said.

Resources are organized around three areas: building AI skills and literacy, developing AI skills by industry, and options for integrating AI into apprenticeship programs.
