A new survey by ComPsych finds weight loss and stress topping the list of employee wellness concerns for 2011.

With more and more individuals slipping into the overweight category, it’s no surprise that weight management is a top issue this year, says ComPsych, a leading provider of employee assistance programs. Stress levels are also unusually high as a result of economy-related factors.

ComPsych adds that workplace wellness programs are well-suited to help employees lose weight and address stress, which can improve productivity and lower health and disability costs for an organization.

Employers were asked, “Which health issue are you most trying to stay ahead of this year?” Their responses:

  • Weight loss 39%
  • Stress 23%
  • Exercise 22%
  • Diet improvement 7%
  • Quitting smoking 5%
  • Other 4%
