Avelo, Special Olympics Partner for Second Plane Pull Event
Avelo and Special Olympics Connecticut are looking for business teams to participate in the second annual charity Plane Pull.
Teams will attempt to pull a 90,000-pound Avelo Airlines Boeing Next-Generation 737 jetliner 20 feet down the runway Sept. 24 at Tweed New Haven Airport.
Last year the event raised more than $40,000 for Special Olympics Connecticut.
Avelo first launched flights from Tweed New Haven in 2021, and recently announced it will expand to offer flights from Bradley International.
“We’re so excited to continue to build on our partnership with Special Olympics,” Avelo founder and CEO Andrew Levy said following the inaugural event.
“It’s a great example of teamwork—everyone pulling in the right direction.”
Team Building
Teams should be made up of between 15 and 20 people. On the day of the event, teams will pull the jetliner down the runway.
There is a $2,000 minimum fundraising goal per team.
Last year companies used the event as a team-building exercise. Other companies agree to match what employees raised.
While the event itself runs from 9 am to 3 pm, teams only need to be present for their pull.
Avelo Airlines will provide each member of the top fundraising team and the fastest pulling team will receive a round-trip ticket.
People who are interested in putting together a team can register online.
