Travelers’ Connecticut Charitable Giving Exceeds $8M in 2024

Hartford-based Travelers Cos. gave $8.2 million in charitable and community donations to Connecticut organizations in 2024.
The property and casualty insurer’s annual community report details its giving and volunteer efforts, including more than 52,000 hours logged by employees last year.
Nationally, the company donated more than $24 million to communities in 2024, with total giving exceeding $237 million over the past decade.
The Travelers Championship, a player-favorite stop on the PGA golf tour, generated over $3.2 million in contributions for more than 206 nonprofit organizations.
Employees also dedicated 20,000 hours to support the event.
Education Programs
Travelers’ 2024 giving efforts included $6 million to support educational initiatives.
Those initiatives included Travelers EDGE, featuring partnerships with high schools, colleges, universities, and community-based organizations to provide students with the resources to earn bachelor’s degrees and prepare for careers in the insurance and financial services industry.
The company committed $500,000 to the University of Connecticut to support a new residence hall in downtown Hartford, with funding helping cover room and board costs for economically disadvantaged students.
“Our relationship with UConn spans decades, and we are proud to be a part of the university’s efforts in expanding its presence in downtown Hartford,” said Travelers’ chief administrative officer Andy Bessette.
It also continued its partnership with the workforce development organization ReadyCT, helping provide Hartford-area high school students with professional development opportunities.
Travelers hosted 25 students last year from ReadyCT’s G.R.I.T. (Get Ready Immersive Training) program, which offers project-based learning experiences in insurance, financial services, and technology.
Community Activities
Travelers donated $5.6 million to organizations supporting communities across the country in 2024.
Those donations and volunteer efforts supported a range of programs, including hurricane relief, Habitat for Humanity, Earth Day, and the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford.
Travelers employees also raised $950,000 through the company’s Community Connections campaign.
The Travelers Arts Impact Grant Fund provided the Greater Hartford Arts Council with over $500,000 to support 15 Hartford-based organizations.
The report notes Travelers’ ongoing collaborations with organizations that provide entrepreneurs and small-business owners with training, infrastructure support, technical assistance, and capital.
Travelers employees also raised $950,000 through the company’s Community Connections campaign, supporting United Way and partner organizations.
