Small Business Showcase: TAB Computer Systems
Each month, we profile a Connecticut small business, showcasing the ingenuity and innovation driving the state’s economy. For June we spoke with East Hartford-based TAB Computer Systems Inc.
When was your company founded?
How many employees work for your company?
Who are your customers?
Our clients are small to mid-sized businesses that are looking for a technology solutions partner.
What makes your company unique?
TAB is unique because we partner with our clients to help them succeed and achieve their goals.
Our clients don’t sign long-term contracts; we have to earn their business every month. We carry a large inventory of replacement parts to limit our client’s downtime if/when an issue arises.
What is a fun fact about your business or its history?
TAB was founded in 1983 by TJ Benoit. In 2021, we became a 100% employee-owned company!
How do you try to give back to your community?
We give back to our community through local events and support our employee-owner’s volunteer opportunities.
Where do you see your company in five years? Ten years?
Over the next five to 10 years, we see our business doubling the number of seats we support and growing our team to meet the needs of our clients.
What is the main thing policymakers could implement to make your company more competitive?
One thing that our policymakers could do that would not only make TAB more competitive, but it would also make Connecticut more attractive to ESOP companies is to review the taxing policies of employee-owned companies.
