Hartford Athletic Hosts Veterans and Diversity Hiring Expo

Hartford Athletic and the state Department of Labor are collaborating on the team’s first annual Veterans and Diversity Hiring Expo Sept. 7.

The expo, designed to support those who are underemployed, seeking new career opportunities, or directly impacted in their careers by COVID-19, will be held at Hartford’s Dillon stadium, the United Soccer League team’s home field.

“Hartford Athletic is thrilled to partner with the Connecticut Department of Labor on this very important initiative,” Hartford Athletic CEO Jim Burda said.

“As an organization, we are not only committed to providing a world-class soccer experience, but also to providing pathways for everyone in our community through our year-round community pillars of support.”

The expo will host up to 40 organizations that support a diverse workforce providing opportunities for veterans, people of color, women, and people with disabilities.

Attendees will also receive educational opportunities including resumé assistance, interview strategies, and dress for success advice.

“These types of creative partnerships are exactly what Connecticut needs to continue to bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic and grow our economy far into the future,” Gov. Ned Lamont said in a statement.

CBIA president and CEO Chris DiPentima called the expo “a great representation of the type of public-private partnerships needed to rebuild Connecticut.”

“CBIA member companies like Hartford Athletic are stepping up across the state to help address pandemic-related challenges, drive job growth, and rebuild our economy better and stronger than ever,” DiPentima said.

“As an organization, we are committed to providing pathways for everyone in our community.”

The expo runs from 1:30-5 pm and is free to attend, although jobseekers are encouraged to register online.

Attendees will receive a free ticket to the team’s Veterans and Military Appreciation Night match against Louisville City FC following the expo at 7 pm.
