CBIA Response to May 2024 Employment Report
The state’s largest business organization issued the following response to today’s release of the May 2024 employment report.
“It’s encouraging to see Connecticut continue its positive economic momentum with the addition of 4,700 jobs,” said CBIA president and CEO Chris DiPentima.
“We’re also seeing consistent growth in the state’s labor force—those working and those actively looking for work.
“After growing by 3,500 last month, the labor force is now up 12,200 for the first five months of the year.
“And while we are still 16,500 (-1%) below pre-pandemic levels, it’s notable that the labor force has grown for 10 consecutive months.
“These numbers are cause for optimism, and we must focus on building on this momentum.
“There are still 90,000 open jobs in Connecticut, and 81,800 looking for work.
“This gap is closing, and it’s critical that we focus on solutions that will continue to create rewarding career opportunities for all Connecticut residents.
