CBIA Response to Third Quarter 2025 GDP Report

The state’s largest business organization issued the following response to today’s release of the 2025 third quarter gross domestic product report.
“This report underscores the strength and resilience of Connecticut’s businesses and their world-class workforces,” CBIA president and CEO Chris DiPentima said.
“Connecticut’s third quarter GDP growth was the fourth strongest in the nation, building on the positive momentum from the second quarter.
“Growth during the third quarter was driven primarily by the finance and insurance and manufacturing sectors—two core economic contributors.
“This performance is a testament to the strength and adaptability of our employers and employees who are navigating ongoing uncertainty and rising costs and finding innovative ways to boost productivity and drive growth.
“Employers continue to support their workforces with wages outpacing inflation, even as Connecticut’s personal income growth slowed to 39th nationally.
“The fiscal stability the state has built in recent years is helping give businesses the confidence they need to make important long-term investments.
“While it’s important to celebrate today’s report, now is not the time for Connecticut to take its foot off the accelerator.
“Now is the time to build on this momentum by advancing policies that strengthen our competitiveness—making this a more affordable and attractive place to live and work.
“Labor force challenges and affordability concerns remain significant economic hurdles—particularly for small businesses.
“As we head into the 2026 legislative session, policymakers must seize the moment and address the high costs of healthcare and energy while enacting solutions that grow the workforce and expand opportunity across the state.
“It’s then that we will allow small businesses and their employees to truly thrive and unleash Connecticut’s full economic potential.”
