MEDIA ADVISORY: Radios, Robots, and Rockets–Oh My!

On Saturday, October 8, over 50 makers will come together to showcase inventions, innovation, and creativity at Tunxis Community College at the 2nd annual Greater Hartford Mini Maker Faire.

This free, family-friendly celebration spotlights the ingenuity and craftsmanship of Connecticut makers.
This hands-on event showcases makers of all ages and their projects, as they share new forms of innovation and experimentation across a range of disciplines.
On display will include: robots, letterboxing, upcycling, electronic music, pedal cars, clothing, leather working, 3D printing, and more.
Participants can also get in on the fun with workshops.
This year’s workshops will feature arduino boards, 3D scan, spaghetti towers, shaker pegboards, and air rockets.
Architect Randall Anway will discuss biomimicry, the imitation of nature for the purpose of solving complex human problems. He’ll give two brief presentations during the event.
Last year, over 1,500 attended the area’s inaugural maker faire.
This program is sponsored by the Connecticut College of Technology’s Regional Center for Next Generation Manufacturing (RCNGM) through funding from the National Science Foundation.
CBIA is producing the event on behalf of the RCNGM.
