Murtha Cullina, Harris Beach Merge
Leaders from Murtha Cullina and Harris Beach announced plans to join and form one firm—Harris Beach Murtha.
The two firms will have more than 250 attorneys across 15 offices in several different states in the region.
Murtha Cullina currently has three offices in Connecticut in Hartford, New Haven, and Stamford, while Harris Beach has one Connecticut office in New Haven.
Leaders at the firms believe combining forces will allow them to better support clients through today’s complex legal and regulatory environment.
Regional Powerhouse
“We are excited by this strategic opportunity to combine the strengths of our two firms, expanding our geographic reach, broadening the scope of our services, and deepening our bench of experienced attorneys to offer a more comprehensive suite of legal services to our clients,” Murtha Cullina managing partner Andy Corea said.
Harris Beach CEO Chris Jagel said the combination is a transformational move.
“Both firms have a long history of excellence and client-driven growth in our respective markets and are well-aligned culturally and with many of the same practice areas,” Jagel said.
“The combination will enable us to extend our reach to provide even more diverse and innovative services and capabilities over a larger geographic footprint.”
Timeline
It will be some time before the firms officially operate as one as a number of conditions must be met.
Corea and Jagel will co-lead an interim advisory committee during the process of combining the firms.
The current operating agreement for Harris Beach Murtha is set to go into effect Jan. 1, 2025.
Customarily, the partners from each firm will vote to approve the new operating agreement in the coming months.
Until then, the firms will operate as separate entities.
