The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission released a new poster describing federal laws banning job discrimination in the workplace Oct. 19, 2022.

The “Know Your Rights” poster replaces the “EEO Is the Law” poster that the EEOC previously released.

The poster summarizes the laws that the EEOC enforces in regard to job discrimination. That includes discrimination based on race, color, sex, religion, age, equal pay, and disability among other factors.

By law, covered employers must display the poster in their workplace.

By law, covered employers must display the EEOC poster in their workplace.

EEOC officials encourage employers to also post the notice digitally on their websites. In some cases, digital posting can supplement the physical posting requirement.

EEOC officials said the update poster uses plain language and bullet points to make it easier for employers to understand their legal rights.

The poster also includes a QR code for employees that links directly to instructions for how to file a workplace discrimination charge.
