Small Business Showcase: The TAC Group

Each month, we profile a Connecticut small business, showcasing the ingenuity and innovation driving the state’s economy. For March, we spoke with leaders from the TAC Group in West Hartford.
When was your company founded?
2023
How many employees work for your company?
We have two employees.
Who are your customers?
The TAC Group is an operations consulting firm specializing in new facility openings, labor management, and optimizing distribution performance.
We help businesses streamline operations, improve efficiencies and scale successfully.
We work with facilities, distribution centers and warehouses across all sectors, including e-commerce, grocery distribution, manufacturing, retail, consumer goods, parcel, cold storage facilities and third party logistics.
What makes your company unique?
The TAC Group stands out from other consulting firms because we’ve been in the trenches—on the front lines and the warehouse floor.
Our team doesn’t just bring theories, we bring real-world experience, which means we offer practical, no-nonsense solutions that actually work.
Our team doesn’t just bring theories, we bring real-world experience, which means we offer practical, no-nonsense solutions that actually work.
Since we’ve been part of operations teams ourselves, we understand the challenges firsthand.
That’s why we lead with empathy, helping businesses align their big-picture goals with the realities of day-to-day operations.
What is a fun fact about your business or its history?
Our co-founder, Zack Napolitano, got his start in operations as a package handler for FedEx in Maine back in 1999.
Through hard work and dedication, he worked his way up to senior leadership while in Chicago.
When the opportunity came to help open the FedEx Ground facility in Middletown, Zack and his family made their way back to New England—a place they’re proud to call home.
Why did you choose Connecticut?
Connecticut chose us. As our family grew, we realized that downtown Chicago wasn’t where we wanted to raise our kids.
So, when the chance came to help open the FedEx Ground facility in Middletown, we jumped at it, eager to build our home in a more family-friendly town.
As our family grew, we realized that downtown Chicago wasn’t where we wanted to raise our kids.
Now, with deep roots in West Hartford, it was only natural to grow our business here too.
Just like we built our family, we’re building The TAC Group right here in the community we call home.
What is the greatest advantage to operating in Connecticut?
The biggest advantage of The TAC Group working in Connecticut is our deep connection to the local business landscape.
We know the region, the workforce, and the unique challenges companies face here.
We know the region, the workforce, and the unique challenges companies face here.
With Connecticut’s strong logistics network, access to major transportation hubs, and a growing business community, we’re in the perfect position to help companies streamline operations and stay competitive.
Our local roots mean we don’t just bring outside advice.
We bring real, practical solutions that work for businesses right here at home.
How do you try to give back to your community?
At The TAC Group, it’s all about lifting people up.
Over the past six years, we’ve met countless talented warehouse workers and managers who often get overlooked in the corporate shuffle.
We make it our mission to spot their strengths and bring them onto projects where they can thrive. People come first here—always.
We’re constantly mentoring, teaching, and helping others grow so they can step into leadership roles down the line.

As my dad always said, you’re only as strong as the five fingers on your hand—everyone plays a part, and together we’re stronger.
Where do you see your company in five years? Ten years?
As The TAC Group continues to grow, our goal over the next five years is to be a major disruptor in the consulting industry.
We’re bringing real-world experience to the table, delivering practical, no-nonsense solutions that actually work… without the bloated costs of traditional consulting.
We believe businesses deserve hands-on expertise and straightforward strategies that drive real results, and that’s exactly what we’re here to provide.
What is the main thing policymakers could implement to make your company more competitive?
While there are quite a few policies that could help The TAC Group, we believe that incentives for workforce development in the form of grants or tax credits would allow Connecticut-based operations an easier way to develop skilled talent in operations and logistics.
This in turn would make their Connecticut based operations run more efficiently and create a higher profit center ultimately keeping their operations in Connecticut.
