CBIA Response to March 2024 Employment Report
The state’s largest business organization issued the following response to today’s release of the March 2024 employment report.
“The addition of 4,900 jobs is a very positive sign for Connecticut’s economic momentum,” said CBIA president and CEO Chris DiPentima.
“With February’s initial numbers also revised up to 2,600, we are seeing a consistent pattern of growth over the first three months of 2024.
“With an increase of 4,100 people last month, we’re also seeing continued growth in the state’s labor force—those working and those actively looking for work.
“Connecticut now has 86,000 open jobs, and approximately the same number of people looking for work.
“This is the growth we need to keep pace with the demands of the economy, but it’s important that we don’t take our foot off the gas.
“Employers continue to cite the worker shortage as their greatest challenge.
“Solving the workforce challenge will take collaboration and partnerships from across private, public, and community sectors to increase opportunities and career pathways to grow the workforce.
“It’s critical that we work together to enact policies and solutions to open doors for women, immigrants, returning citizens, veterans, and those from underserved and often forgotten communities.”
CBIA is Connecticut’s largest business organization, with thousands of member companies, small and large, representing a diverse range of industries from every part of the state. For more information, please contact Scott Beaulieu (860.244.1929).
