SBA Opens 2024 Small Business Award Nominations
The U.S. Small Business Administration is accepting nominations for national and district small business week awards for 2024.
Individuals or organizations can nominate small businesses with exceptional innovation, growth, community engagement, or resilience.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and we believe in recognizing and celebrating their outstanding contributions,” SBA Connecticut district director Catherine Marx said.
“This is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the incredible work being done by small business owners and entrepreneurs who have dedicated themselves to success and community growth.”

Small businesses are eligible to receive national awards for small business person of the year and exporter of the year.
The SBA gives district awards to family-owned small business of the year, manufacturer of the year, microenterprise of the year, minority small business of the year, veteran small business of the year, women in business of the year, and young entrepreneur of the year.
Small businesses account for 48% of all workers in Connecticut. That number is only continuing to grow.
In 2023, CBIA and the SBA’s Connecticut district office collaborated to celebrate award recipients, which included Hygrade Precision Technologies’ Pedro Soto, Element 119’s Andrew Zeppa, and DICIN Electric Company’s Cindy Hersom.
Eligibility for 2024 awards vary by award. The 2024 deadline for submissions is 4 pm Dec. 7.
