CBIA Foundation, US Chamber Partner on National Civics Bee

Do you know a middle schooler who is passionate about their community?
Some of Connecticut’s brightest young minds will test their knowledge as part of the 2025 National Civics Bee.
The CBIA Foundation for Economic Growth and Opportunity is partnering with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, educators, and regional chambers of commerce across Connecticut again this year to host the Connecticut competition.
The annual competition is aimed at improving civics education and literacy among middle school students, their families, and communities.
Modeled on traditional spelling and geography bees, the National Civics Bee gives students the chance to win recognition and earn cash prizes by sharing ideas for improving their communities and showing their enthusiasm for civics.
“CBIA and the CBIA Foundation are thrilled to once again be a part of this incredible competition,” said CBIA president and CEO Chris DiPentima.
“Informed and active citizens make for a strong country, a strong economy, and a strong workforce.”

“And the National Civics Bee is a great way to encourage students to engage in civics and contribute to their communities.”
Students in sixth, seventh, or eighth grade at any public, private, or home school institution can enter the competition by submitting an essay online.
The regional bees will be hosted this spring by the Bridgeport Regional Business Council and Waterbury Regional Chamber of Commerce.
The winner of the Connecticut state finals in early June will receive a trip to Washington, DC to compete in the National Civics Bee national championship in the fall.
The deadline to enter is Tuesday Feb. 4, 2025.
